Application of ZETAG 4100 DK Anionic Polyacrylamide
ZETAG 4100 DK is a high-molecular-weight anionic polyacrylamide flocculant designed for efficient solid–liquid separation in a wide range of industrial and municipal processes. As a typical anionic polyacrylamide, ZETAG 4100 DK works mainly through polymer bridging, binding fine suspended particles into larger, stronger flocs that settle or dewater rapidly. Because of its strong flocculation performance, broad pH tolerance, and good compatibility with inorganic coagulants, ZETAG 4100 DK is widely applied in mining, wastewater treatment, sludge handling, and water recycling systems.
Mining and Mineral Processing
One of the most important applications of ZETAG 4100 DK anionic polyacrylamide is in mining and mineral processing, especially in tailings thickening and clarification. During ore beneficiation, grinding and flotation generate large volumes of fine mineral particles that are difficult to settle naturally. ZETAG 4100 DK effectively bridges these fine particles, forming dense flocs that settle quickly in thickeners and clarifiers.
In tailings thickeners, the use of ZETAG 4100 DK improves settling rates, increases underflow solids concentration, and produces clearer overflow water. Clear overflow can be reused as process water, significantly reducing freshwater consumption and supporting sustainable mining operations. Higher underflow density also reduces tailings volume and improves downstream handling, transport, and storage stability.
Industrial Wastewater Treatment
ZETAG 4100 DK anionic polyacrylamide is widely used in industrial wastewater treatment systems across industries such as steel, metallurgy, power generation, chemical manufacturing, ceramics, and building materials. Industrial effluents often contain high levels of suspended solids, metal hydroxides, and fine inorganic particles formed during neutralization and precipitation processes.
When applied after primary coagulation with ferric salts, aluminum salts, or lime, ZETAG 4100 DK acts as a flocculant aid, strengthening floc structure and accelerating sedimentation. This results in lower turbidity, reduced suspended solids, and improved clarity of treated water. Efficient solid removal helps facilities meet discharge standards and reduces the load on downstream filtration or biological treatment units.
Sludge Thickening and Dewatering
Another key application of ZETAG 4100 DK is in sludge thickening and mechanical dewatering. In both industrial and municipal treatment plants, sludge often contains fine particles with high water retention, making dewatering difficult and costly. ZETAG 4100 DK anionic polyacrylamide forms large, porous, and shear-resistant flocs that release water more easily.
In gravity thickeners, ZETAG 4100 DK increases settling speed and produces higher underflow solids concentration. When used prior to belt filter presses, centrifuges, or screw presses, it improves cake dryness, reduces polymer consumption, and stabilizes dewatering performance. Improved dewatering efficiency leads to lower sludge volume, reduced disposal costs, and more economical plant operation.
Municipal Water and Wastewater Treatment
In municipal water treatment plants, ZETAG 4100 DK is commonly used as a coagulant aid to enhance flocculation and sedimentation after alum or ferric chloride dosing. The anionic polyacrylamide increases floc size and density, resulting in faster settling, lower residual turbidity, and improved clarifier performance. Clearer settled water also improves filtration efficiency and extends filter run times.
In municipal wastewater treatment, ZETAG 4100 DK is mainly applied for primary sludge and chemically conditioned sludge thickening. Its stable performance under varying flow rates and solids loading makes it suitable for large-scale wastewater treatment facilities requiring reliable operation.
Pulp and Paper Industry
ZETAG 4100 DK anionic polyacrylamide is also used in the pulp and paper industry, particularly for white water clarification, fiber recovery, and paper mill sludge dewatering. Fine fibers and fillers suspended in white water can be efficiently flocculated, allowing valuable raw materials to be recovered and reused in the papermaking process.
For paper mill sludge, ZETAG 4100 DK improves drainage characteristics and increases cake solids during mechanical dewatering. This reduces disposal costs and supports cleaner production and internal water recycling within the mill.
Construction and Civil Engineering
In construction and civil engineering, ZETAG 4100 DK is applied for slurry treatment in tunneling, piling, diaphragm wall construction, and foundation works. Bentonite and cement slurries often contain fine solids that must be separated before water discharge or reuse. ZETAG 4100 DK promotes rapid settling and clarification, producing clearer water suitable for recycling on site and reducing environmental impact.
